“During her town hall, an agitator tried to attack the Congresswoman by spraying an unknown substance with a syringe,” said Omar’s spokesperson. “Security and the Minneapolis Police Department quickly apprehended the individual. He is now in custody. The Congresswoman is okay. She continued with her town hall because she doesn’t let bullies win.”
“I’m ok. I’m a survivor so this small agitator isn’t going to intimidate me from doing my work,” Omar wrote on X. “I don’t let bullies win. Grateful to my incredible constituents who rallied behind me. Minnesota strong.”
The suspect, Anthony James Kazmierczak, has been arrested for third-degree assault.
Let’s not mince words here. This attack is a direct result of Trump’s dehumanizing rhetoric towards Omar, who he has called “garbage” in the past. Just hours before the assault, he smeared her at a political rally and claimed that she doesn’t love America.
