Why Are Veins Blue?
Interestingly, veins are not actually blue. Blood is always red, but veins appear blue due to how light penetrates the skin and reflects back to our eyes.
When there is less fat under the skin:
Veins are closer to the surface

Skin thickness
Blood circulation patterns
If your parents or family members have visible veins, there’s a good chance you will too.
Lighter skin
Thinner skin
As we age, skin naturally becomes thinner, which is why veins often become more noticeable over time.
This leads to:

Cold temperatures, on the other hand, can make them less noticeable.

Good blood circulation
Low body fat
Active lifestyle

Athletes
Physically active individuals
People with healthy cardiovascular systems
